SCSD – Deputies responded to a hit and run, where a Honda Accord was in the Mister car wash at Kimball Jct. behind an Acura MDX. The driver of the Honda had their large breed dog in their lap, which caused the car to go into drive and hit the Acura. Both drivers were instructed to exchange information in the adjacent parking lot, but the driver of the Honda left. The owner was found at his address and found to not have a valid license. The Park City man in his 50s and owner of the Honda was cited for leaving the scene of an accident and no valid license. He was also educated about not having their large dog in their lap while they operate a motor vehicle.

The car was subsequently stopped for multiple lane violations and the odor of alcoholic beverage was detected from the vehicle and the breath of the driver. Three juveniles under the age of eight were in the car without proper restraints. The driver, a Coalville man in his 30s, was arrested after performing poorly on field sobriety tests. The children were released to a family member.

During the course of the investigation, it was found three juveniles had consumed an alcoholic beverage, and one had a vape pen in their possession. Juvenile referrals were issued for all parties who consumed alcohol, parents were called, and took custody of their juvenile children.

The man can be seen chasing the puppy before striking her then following her into another room after hitting her with the pool cue. He chased the puppy into a room and shut the door from where continuous yelping and crying by the puppy could be heard on the video. The Kamas man was booked into the Summit County Jail on one count of Felony 3 Animal Cruelty to a Companion Animal.
