Summit County declares local emergency

SUMMIT COUNTY, Utah — On Monday night, Summit County declared a local emergency in response to the Parley’s Canyon Fire.

The declaration allows the County to request additional resources from the State of Utah and the federal government.

It also grants the Summit County Manager emergency powers — such as the ability to enact rules and regulations like curfews (you can view all the powers here — Code 5-4-6).

“The County Manager hereby consents to the extension of the Evacuation Order for the neighborhoods of Pinebrook, Summit Park, and Timberline, consistent with the County Sheriff’s latest modifications,” the County declaration said.

“The County Manager will consult with the County Sheriff on any further extensions or modifications of the Evacuation Order which will continue to require the consent of the County Manager.”
