Local Habitat for Humanity home will be showcased for the first time ever

SUMMIT COUNTY, Utah — For the first time ever, a house constructed by Habitat for Humanity of Summit and Wasatch Counties, will be featured in the 2021 Park City Area Showcase of Homes.

The showcase is run by the Park City Area Home Builders Association (HBA).

The newly finished home is in Phase 1 of affordable, Zero Energy Ready houses in Silver Creek Village. Habitat for Humanity plans to build 25 more similar homes in the neighborhood.

“Habitat is so excited to work with the Home Builders Association and have our home featured in this year’s Showcase,” said Shellie Barrus, Executive Director of the Summit and Wasatch Counties’ local Habitat. “This partnership with HBA is something that means the world to Habitat. The leadership and members have been amazing to work with and have really stepped up to help.”

The staff was forced to deal head-on with the coronavirus pandemic. Volunteers were unable to work on the project because of regulations put in place by Habitat International. The construction continued with staff only.

“The Home Builders Association is thrilled to feature Habitat in this year’s Showcase,” said Alicia Ackerman, Executive Officer of the PCA HBA. “We think it’s important to show what a beautiful, well-made home the community can build – that is also affordable for a family in our area.”

The Park City Area Showcase of Homes runs August 27-29 and September 3-6. Tickets are required and can be purchased with a $5 discount through this link.

“Topmark Floor & Design, Tanner Glass and Hardware, and four other HBA members donated time and materials to bring this home to fruition,” Habitat for Humanity of Summit and Wasatch Counties said in a statement. “Other HBA members include Masterpiece Trade Services, Kip Slaugh and Associates, San Francisco Design, and Wild Willie’s Yard Services.”
