New Mark Wahlberg movie was filmed in Utah

HOLLYWOOD, Calif. — Mark Wahlberg, Connie Britton, and Reid Miller star in ‘Joe Bell.’ The movie premieres in theaters today.

Joe Bell is the true story about a working-class father from Oregon who embarks on a solo walk across America to crusade against bullying because his son was tormented in high school for being gay.

Joe’s Walk For Change is a nonprofit organization created by Joe Bell to stop bullying and save lives. Tragically, Joe’s son Jadin died of suicide and Joe Bell died while walking across the continental United States. He was struck by a semi-truck in Colorado.

According to Dessert News, the movie was predominantly filmed in Salt Lake and Summit County in 2019. “We had a 60-mile radius from downtown Salt Lake City. If you drew a circle around that point, we probably shot in it,” director, Reinaldo Marcus Green, told the Salt Lake Tribune.
