Hazardous weather outlook for the week ahead
PARK CITY, Utah — The National Weather Service has announced a Hazardous Weather Outlook for the western half of Utah and southwest Wyoming.
A “monsoonal moisture” will remain in the area through the weekend.
“A moist airmass will remain in place through the weekend. Daily showers and thunderstorms capable of heavy rain, gusty winds and small hail will occur each afternoon and evening across much of the forecast area during this time,” the announcement reads.
The moisture that is moving up from southern Utah is pushing most of the smoke that had been in the area in recent days away. The clouds and precipitation should limit the heat during the day compared to past weeks.
They expect the weather in southern Utah to become less unstable, following days of flash flooding.
Looking towards next week, the Weather Service expects northern Utah to be wetter and cooler than average. “Some beneficial rain looks likely,” writes the Salt Lake City forecast office.
