Calls for service: Police and sheriff logs
A car was stolen, reported to authorities, later to be found by the authorities, a highlight of the calls for service made to the Park City Police Department (PCPD) and the Summit County Sheriff Department (SCSD) for the week of June 28 to July 4.
MONDAY:
At the Redstone Retail Center, a front license plate had been stolen a few days prior, it was called in to SCSD by the car’s owner on Monday. It was a 2019 Porche Cayenne.
TUESDAY:
The First Community Bank called PCPD officers regarding fraud in progress. Two suspects were detained and eventually arrested for forgery and possession of forged documents.
WEDNESDAY:
A SCSD deputy was dispatched to an abandoned car on SR 248. The car was confirmed to be the stolen vehicle from a call that came in earlier that morning. A 2003 Subaru Outback had been reported to SCSD by the owner as stolen. It was taken from his driveway overnight on Old Lincoln Highway. There are, as of yet, no suspects in the case.
A man was seen by multiple witnesses in multiple parking lots in the Prospector area looking into vehicles. Once stopped by PCPD officers, he was found to be in possession of meth and a glass pipe. The suspect may be responsible for vehicle burglaries in the area. The case was referred to Investigations for follow-up.
SCSD deputies received a call from Kamas concerning stolen property. The caller stated that an employee had taken a Mag drill from his residence and that the act was captured on camera. Contact was made with the employee who admitted to stealing the drill. The value of the drill was estimated to be approximately $2000. The employee was arrested for several warrants as well as felony theft.
THURSDAY:
PCPD officers responded to a complaint of an intoxicated man inside of the Fresh Market grocery store. Officers were able to locate the man outside the store and released him to a sober friend.
FRIDAY:
A man in his forties was found unresponsive on the bike path near the Highland Drive trailhead. It’s believed that he had crashed while riding a motorized skateboard, he was not wearing a helmet. The man’s wife was notified at the scene by SCSD deputies and he was transported to a Salt Lake area hospital with a significant head injury.
SATURDAY:
Smoke was spotted coming from the underground tunnel near the High School. PCPD officers found juveniles playing with “smoke bombs,” their parents were nearby.
In Coalville, a call was made to the SCSD about several prescription pills that were found missing from the caller’s prescription bottle in her home. After review of her in-home video cameras, it was discovered that a tenant living downstairs took the pills from her purse. The suspect is currently out of town and was not able to be contacted. Follow-up is being conducted by the deputy.
SUNDAY:
Officers from the PCPD were on foot patrol in the middle of Main Street when they observed a fight between two adults. Both were referred to the City Attorney’s Office for charges.
