Where The Snow Goes

PARK CITY, Utah. — When the snow comes in feet, where does it go afterwards?

Park City Streets Department representative Casey Coleman has the answer: “We pick it up from Main St., Swede Alley and the Prospector business area and haul it away, out to a section of land off of Highway 40, near the hospital, where there’s a retention pond so that all the snow safely evaporates.  With a larger snowfall like this week’s, the whole process will take us about a couple of days.”

Summit County Public Works Director Derrik Radke said, “Summit County doesn’t remove snow to a different location after it’s been cleared from the roadways. Private commercial and residential parking lots do their own snow pile haul-aways.”

That’s where the dump trucks are headed, rolling into town empty and driving away snow-stacked.
