New Community Park Development in Trailside

PARK CITY, Utah. — In 2019, Basin Recreation acquired a 68.52-acre parcel from Summit County located on Silver Creek Parkway and Trailside Drive (across from Trailside Bike Park). That parcel is now planned for development of a new community park which will have two multipurpose fields, two pavilions, 118 parking stalls and a restroom.

According to Melissa O’Brien, Interim Director and Planning & Legal Affairs Manager of Basin Recreation, a 2019 survey indicated that 23 percent of respondents said their household values outdoor field space.

“Beyond these studies, because we program our park space daily, we know anecdotally that we are in need of additional fields,” O’Brien said. “The new community park helps us to address that need.”

The public comment period for the park closed on Nov. 24 and O’Brien said the feedback they received was positive, helpful, and involved concerns about pedestrian safety and overall access to the park via public transportation.

Basin Recreation has finished planning the park, and they anticipate completing construction sometime in 2021. You can view the park’s site plan and concept map on their website.
