PARK CITY, Utah — Basin Recreation is moving forward with plans to transform the existing skatepark at Trailside Park in Park City into a modern, fully integrated Wheels Park designed to serve a wider range of riders. The final design concept will be presented to the Administrative Control Board at its regular monthly meeting on Thursday, June 11, beginning at 6 p.m. The meeting will be held at the Trailside Park Room, 5715 Trailside Drive, Park City, and is also accessible virtually via Microsoft Teams.
Community members are encouraged to attend to see the presentation from Spohn Ranch and learn about next steps for the project.
The renovated facility will replace aging, prefabricated equipment with a purpose-built concrete park on an expanded footprint. The new design is intended to accommodate skateboards, scooters, BMX bikes and inline skates, with a focus on long-term performance, safety and inclusivity.

The design has been developed through a collaborative process led by Spohn Ranch, a firm specializing in skate and wheels park design. The approach was built around public input, with the goal of creating a facility that feels authentic and functional for the people who will use it most.
The board will consider Resolution BRD-2026-034, which would authorize the district director to approve the Wheels Park concept and direct Spohn Ranch to begin Phase 2 of its contract, moving the project from design into the next stage of development. The Wheels Park item is scheduled to be taken up during the new business portion of the meeting, which begins at 7 p.m.
The project is funded through Basin Recreation’s approved 2026 capital budget, impact fees and grant funding. The district was awarded a $500,000 Utah Outdoor Recreation Grant through the Utah Division of Outdoor Recreation to support the project. The grant program supports infrastructure projects that expand recreational opportunities and enhance the quality of life for Utah communities.
