Summit County to test election equipment ahead of 2026 general election

Public Logic and Accuracy Test set for Oct. 12 at the Summit County Courthouse in Coalville

COALVILLE, Utah — Summit County voters will have an opportunity next week to watch election equipment being tested ahead of the 2026 general election.

The Summit County Clerk’s Office will conduct its Logic and Accuracy Test at 10 a.m. Monday, Oct. 12, at the Summit County Courthouse, 60 N. Main St. in Coalville.

The test is used to confirm that election and voting equipment is functioning properly and accurately records votes as marked, according to Summit County.

The process is open to public observation, giving residents a chance to see how voting equipment works and ask Clerk’s Office staff questions about the election process.

Logic and accuracy testing is part of the county’s preparations before ballots are counted. Summit County has opened similar testing to the public in previous elections as part of its election procedures.

The Oct. 12 test comes one day before ballots are scheduled to be mailed to Summit County voters on Oct. 13.
