SNAPPED: Summit County opens the doors to new PEAK Center

SUMMIT COUNTY, Utah — Community members gathered Saturday for a first look inside Summit County’s new PEAK Center, marking a new chapter for the former Skullcandy headquarters at Kimball Junction.

The Oct. 3 “Taco-bout Kimball Junction” celebration brought residents to the center for food, family activities, information about projects underway around Kimball Junction and the grand opening of the Summit County Library’s new Kimball Junction branch.

One of the afternoon’s highlights was a community Book Brigade, with participants forming a human chain to pass selected books from the library’s longtime home in the Richins Building to its new location inside the PEAK Center.

The move marks the latest step in Summit County’s conversion of the former Skullcandy building at 6301 N. Landmark Drive into a public hub for the Snyderville Basin.

Summit County purchased the building in 2025 and has been renovating it to house the library branch, DMV services, County Council meeting space, conference rooms and other county offices and public-facing programs. Residents selected the name PEAK, short for Public Engagement at Kimball, through a county poll earlier this year.

Saturday’s event also gave residents a chance to learn more about changes underway around Kimball Junction, including transportation projects and Altus Park City, while food trucks, children’s activities and community booths filled the grounds outside the center.
