Park City’s Josie Johnson podiums at ski jumping nationals

LAKE PLACID, N.Y. — After landing second place at the Youth Olympic Games, Josie Johnson matched that result over the weekend in ski jumping at the U.S. National Championships for Nordic combined and ski jumping.
The Park City native and 2026 Olympian, who’s living and training in Lillehammer, Norway, was named this week to the ‘A’ Team of the U.S. Ski Team as she was competing in the annual Flaming Leaves Festival in Lake Placid, New York.

Many of the same names stood atop podiums in the Utah Olympic Park’s Springer Tournee this summer.
Before the snow falls, the athletes compete on green, plastic covered jump hills, just like in Park City and Steamboat Springs, where many of the podium placers hail from. In the afternoon, the Nordic combined athletes raced on rollerskis.
Lake Placid has hosted two Winter Olympic Games.
Many younger athletes traveled to New York, along with some spectating parents, and represented the Park City Ski & Snowboard Team in the competition against teams from Alaska, Illinois, Michigan, Minnesota, Wisconsin, Vermont, and New Hampshire.
