Bobsled Express construction pauses for winter along SR-224

PARK CITY, Utah — After a summer of traffic cones and shifting lanes, High Valley Transit says it is nearing the end of the first year of construction on the Bobsled Express, a new Bus Rapid Transit route being built along State Route 224.

In a recap of this summer’s work, HVT said crews have completed roadway construction at the intersection of Park Avenue and Deer Valley Drive and along the McPolin Barn segment. Crews have also done significant work between Olympic Boulevard and Canyons Resort Drive and got an early start on drainage work between Kearns Boulevard and White Pine Canyon Drive, which is scheduled for more intensive construction next year.
Throughout the winter months, construction crews will work on local bus stops as weather permits, according to HVT. Otherwise, traffic control will be removed and trails will reopen.
Work will resume in spring 2027, beginning with widening the southbound side of SR-224 between Bear Hollow Drive and White Pine Canyon Road, as well as the northbound section between McPolin Barn and Kearns Boulevard.
Crews will also construct the BRT stations, which will feature canopies, real-time information boards, lighting and landscaping.
The project is anticipated to wrap up in fall 2028.
