Swaner Preserve opens their new art exhibit ‘Ephemeral’ and a free native seed library

PARK CITY, Utah — Swaner Preserve and EcoCenter is starting a free native seed library, which is expected to grow soon. It will provide seeds of plants primarily native to the Wasatch Back to the public.

All are welcome to choose three seed packets to plant in their gardens. The public is also encouraged to donate the seeds of native plants they have harvested in their own gardens. All donated seeds will be identified by the Swaner Preserve staff and checked to make sure they are all one variety and in proper dry condition before being added to the seed library. Instructions are available in English and Spanish.

Its new exhibit Ephemeral opened on Saturday, Sept. 12. This juried art exhibition celebrates the beauty, resilience, and ecological importance of Utah’s native plants. Presented by Swaner Preserve & EcoCenter in partnership with the Utah Native Plant Society, the exhibition features pieces by local artists inspired by the native wildflowers, shrubs, grasses, and trees that define Utah’s diverse landscapes.

Through a variety of artistic mediums, this exhibition invites visitors to explore the fleeting yet vital nature of native plant communities and consider their role in supporting wildlife, sustaining ecosystems, and connecting people to place. Together, these artworks celebrate Utah’s botanical diversity and remind us of the importance of conservation in a changing world.

The free, open house-style reception offers an opportunity to explore the exhibition, enjoy light refreshments, and meet several of the featured artists. Learn about the inspiration behind their work, connect with fellow art and nature enthusiasts, and celebrate the intersection of creativity, conservation, and place at 1258 Center Drive, Park City.

Many of the art pieces are for sale, with a portion of the sales price going towards the Swaner Preserve and EcoCenter. Purchased art will remain at Swaner Preserve until the end of the exhibit.
