Summit County seeks input on new Kimball Junction pedestrian bridge

Residents can weigh in on design concepts for a planned SR-224 crossing near Ute Boulevard

PARK CITY, Utah — Summit County is asking residents to help shape the design of a planned pedestrian bridge over state Route 224 near Ute Boulevard in Kimball Junction.

The county is working with the Utah Department of Transportation and the Arts Council of Park City & Summit County on concepts for the new crossing. An online survey asks community members to weigh in on their preferred bridge design and suggest additional features they would like incorporated into the project.

The pedestrian crossing is part of broader transportation improvements planned for the Kimball Junction area. UDOT says upcoming work will include changes to the I-80 interchange and SR-224, along with new bicycle, pedestrian, and trail connections. Construction on the larger Kimball Junction project is currently slated to begin in 2028.

Summit County announced earlier this year that it secured $1 million in federal Community Project Funding to support construction of a pedestrian bridge over SR-224. County officials said the crossing is intended to improve pedestrian safety and connectivity while also creating a more prominent gateway into the community.
