SLC’s MICHELIN-Recommended Koyoté ramen to open Park City location

PARK CITY, Utah — Fresh off the inaugural Michelin Guide Southwest announcements, Salt Lake City-based Koyoté ramen restaurant is expanding to Park City with a new location in Kimball Junction.

Koyoté, which opened in Salt Lake City’s Fairpark neighborhood in 2024, was recently named a Michelin Recommended restaurant in the inaugural Michelin Guide Southwest. The restaurant’s second location is expected to open in October, according to reporting by Axios.

The Kimball Junction location will be smaller than Koyoté’s Salt Lake City restaurant, but the owners plan to eventually expand into an upstairs unit.

Once open, Koyoté will add another Michelin-recognized restaurant to the Park City food scene, joining Handle, Matilda, and The Nelson Cottage by High West, all of which were named Michelin Recommended in the inaugural Southwest guide.

Koyoté serves Japanese ramen in a neighborhood restaurant setting on the west-side of SLC. The restaurant is co-owned by chef Hiro Tagai and Felipe Oliveira, who met while working in the Salt Lake City restaurant industry. Tagai previously worked as a corporate chef for Happy Sumo and trained in ramen shops and culinary school in Japan.

The duo also recently opened Junah, an Italian-Japanese restaurant in Salt Lake City’s Central Ninth neighborhood. Junah takes the Japanese-Italian fusion concept known as itameshi with dishes including wagyu ragu, gyoza-shaped ravioli, and house-made pasta.

The Park City expansion comes as the local dining scene receives increased attention from the Michelin Guide. Utah earned its first Michelin Star in the 2026 Southwest guide, awarded to Monte in South Salt Lake. In total, nine Utah restaurants received recognition, including five Michelin Recommended restaurants and three Bib Gourmands.
