Police Log: Injured hawk on Main Street, intoxicated drivers, and suspicious activity near local schools

A DUI arrest that led to the discovery of suspected drugs, a reported threat involving a motorcycle rider, and concerns about e-bike riders highlighted another busy week for local law enforcement.

Park City police also responded to reports of an aggressive dog charging a caller, a suspected scam, and reports of an injured hawk hiding in electrical equipment along Main Street.

Monday, Aug. 31

Incident: Suspicious activity
A caller reported that her husband had been followed home the previous day by someone offering to fix dents in his vehicle.

Incident: Agency assist
A person riding an electric bike crashed on North Larkspur Road. The rider was conscious and alert but was responding slowly.

Incident: Traffic stop
A vehicle was stopped on I-80 for speeding and expired registration after reportedly traveling more than 90 mph in the far-left lane and cutting off several vehicles while moving back into the lane.

Tuesday, Sept. 1

Incident: Suspicious activity
A suspicious vehicle was reported leaving a parking lot near Kearns Boulevard. Officers worked with the security team to determine whether it was associated with student pickup.

Incident: Parking problem
A construction truck was parked on Woodside Avenue while unloading and was blocking the roadway. The driver was advised to unload quickly and move the truck.

Incident: Juvenile problem
Juveniles were reported riding electric motorcycles on the Rail Trail near Prospector Avenue.

Wednesday, Sept. 2

Incident: Suspicious activity
A parent reported concern about a man walking around McPolin Elementary during school loading hours. The man had not been seen interacting with students.

Incident: Traffic stop
A driver was stopped for impeding traffic after traveling about 5 mph in a 25 mph zone on Deer Valley Drive South, with a line of vehicles behind them.

Thursday, Sept. 3

Incident: Traffic hazard
A large rock was removed from a lane of travel near Mile Marker 2 on SR 248.

Incident: Theft
A person reported leaving a locker open overnight at a location on Marsac Avenue. AirPods, a power bank, and cash were missing the following morning.

Incident: Scam attempt
A caller reported receiving an email from someone claiming an uncle was nearly dying and offering several items for sale.

Incident: Assault
A man outside the No Name Saloon was reportedly trying to fight people and putting his hands on them.

Incident: Disturbing the peace
A caller reported a group of people making noise on Three Kings Drive and keeping him awake.

Incident: Retail theft
Deputies responded to Macey’s in Pinebrook after a woman was reportedly attempting to steal merchandise. Macey’s employees told deputies the woman was believed to be connected to multiple other thefts. She fled the scene but was later located and taken into custody.

Incident: DUI
Deputies stopped a vehicle at Mr. Carwash in Kimball Junction after observing a driving pattern consistent with impairment. The driver had been drinking and displayed signs of impairment during field sobriety tests. He was arrested for DUI. Deputies also found a THC vape and oxycodone pills on him, as well as open alcohol containers inside the vehicle.

Friday, Sept. 4

Incident: Vagrancy
A caller reported a large encampment along the Rail Trail.

Incident: Found property
A person who appeared to be intoxicated dropped off a set of keys at a business on Main Street. The caller believed the keys appeared to be important.

Incident: Welfare check
A man was reported slumped over the steering wheel of his vehicle on Main Street. The caller attempted to tap on the vehicle’s window.

Incident: Traffic stop
Multiple vehicles were stopped after reportedly rolling through a stop sign near Holiday Ranch Loop and Little Kate Road.

Incident: Pedestrian stop
Two juvenile males riding e-bikes were stopped on Homestake Road.

Saturday, Sept. 5

Incident: Intoxication
A man was reported passed out on Main Street.

Incident: Intoxication
During a patrol on Main Street, an officer found a person intoxicated and asleep in a vehicle. The officer helped the person arrange an Uber home.

Incident: Attempt to locate
A woman out for a run near SR 224 reported hearing a yell or scream that sounded like a man and said she was scared.

Incident: Vagrancy
A caller reported that someone appeared to be living inside a red shed between the Engine House, Recycle Center, and Kimball Art Center.

Incident: Threatening
A caller reported that a man riding a motorcycle threatened her and called her derogatory names. The man was described as about 5 feet, 4 inches tall with a stocky build.

Incident: Suspicious activity
A man unfamiliar to a Meadows Drive neighborhood was reported riding a Segway around the area for approximately four hours.

Sunday, Sept. 6

Incident: Animal problem
A caller reported an aggressive dog on her property. When she attempted to approach the dog, it charged at her. The dog did not appear to have a collar.

Incident: Citizen assist
A caller requested to file a police report after a former employee allegedly sent him threatening messages.

Incident: Animal problem
A black labrador wearing a shock collar but no tags was found running loose near Deer Valley Drive. The caller had the dog in her vehicle and requested an officer’s assistance.

Incident: Wildlife problem
An injured hawk was reported hiding in electrical equipment between two businesses on Main Street. The caller believed the bird was injured because it was sitting in the area.
