Art on the Trails brings performances and installations to McLeod Creek Trail

PARK CITY, Utah — The Arts Council of Park City & Summit County will once again transform the McLeod Creek Trail into an outdoor gallery and performance venue later this month with the return of Art on the Trails.

The annual event, presented in partnership with Basin Recreation and Copper Moose Farm, will take place Saturday, Aug. 22, from 2 to 6 p.m. along the McLeod Creek Trail between Copper Moose Farm Stand and Temple Har Shalom.

Art on the Trails tours guide participants through a series of visual art, music, dance, and interactive performance installations set up along the trail.

“Park City culture is a beautiful merger of both our scenic trails and vibrant creative community,” Arts Council Executive Director Jocelyn Scudder said in a statement. “This summer event brings art and nature together in a stunning setting with a mountain town backdrop. This picturesque venue allows area artists and performers to creatively engage with locals and tourists alike.”

This year’s performances and installations include appearances by Ririe-Woodbury Dance Academy, musician Morgan Snow of Triggers & Slips, Cultural Fire Events, and a new visual art installation by local artist Garth Franklin of Franklin Woodworking. Arts Council interns will also debut a special installation along the trail.

The guided experience covers a shaded, 1.5-mile round-trip section of the McLeod Creek Trail and is designed to be accessible for participants of all ability levels. Organizers estimate each tour will take approximately 90 minutes.

Tickets cost $25, while children 12 and younger are admitted free. Organizers note that the event regularly sells out and recommend reserving tickets in advance through the Arts Council website.
