Alo makes moves on Main, replacing Main Street Pizza & Noodle

The Los Angeles based activewear brand, known for its yoga apparel and athleisure, joins lululemon, Vuori, and The North Face on Main. Its addition fills the Historic Commercial Business District’s cap of 17 chain storefronts.

PARK CITY, Utah — Clothing brand Alo is set to take over the space left by Main Street Pizza & Noodle, ending a 35-year run for the Park City restaurant at 530 Main Street. Alo joins a plethora of other activewear brands, including lululemon, Vuori, The North Face, and others.

Main Street Pizza & Noodle closed permanently after 35 years in business, citing rising rents and increasing pressure from national tenants on Main Street. Owner Rick Smith said the restaurant had served millions of guests over its tenure.

Alo now appears at 530 Main Street, below Riverhorse, on Park City’s most recent list of conventional chain businesses, the designation the city uses for national and multistate retailers on Main Street. The listing places Alo in the Historic Commercial Business District, the stretch of Main Street south of Heber Avenue.

Park City’s chain business ordinance, approved Aug. 17, 2017, caps the number of conventional chain businesses allowed on Main Street at 24 total, split between two districts. The Historic Commercial Business District is capped at 17 storefronts, and the Historic Recreation Commercial District north of Heber Avenue is capped at seven. With Alo’s addition, the Historic Commercial Business District’s list of 17 chains is full, meaning no additional chain businesses can open storefronts in that district unless a spot opens up. The Historic Recreation Commercial District has five chains listed against its cap of seven, leaving two open citywide.
