Vehicle fire shuts down lanes on I-80 eastbound near Mountain Dell, causing major delays

PARLEY’S CANYON, Utah — A vehicle fire on I-80 eastbound is causing significant traffic disruptions Thursday afternoon just east of Mountain Dell.

The incident is located at milepost 134, where two of three eastbound lanes are currently closed as crews respond. Traffic was briefly brought to a full stop earlier, and a queue has since been building in the area, leading to major delays for commuters and travelers heading through Parleys Canyon.

According to initial reports, the vehicle involved was pulling a boat when the fire broke out. Fire crews are on scene actively working the incident. Officials report that the fire has not spread to nearby vegetation and there are no injuries.

Motorists should expect continued delays as responders work to clear the scene and reopen lanes. Drivers are urged to use caution in the area and consider alternate routes if possible.
