Summit County speaker series to explore housing, open space

SNYDERVILLE, Utah — Summit County will host a community speaker series event on Monday, June 22, focused on the connection between housing and open space.

The Housing & Open Space Speaker Series will begin at 5:30 p.m. at the Mountain Regional Water Special Service District building, located at 5739 Paintbrush Road in Snyderville. The event is free and scheduled to run until 7:30 p.m.

Hosted by the Summit County Housing Authority, the discussion will look at how local leaders and organizations are working to address affordable housing needs while preserving open space across the county.

Presenters include Rich Sonntag, a retired developer and housing authority commissioner, who will moderate the discussion; Jess Kirby, director of Summit County Lands and Natural Resources; Sarah Tabak, programs specialist for Summit Land Conservancy; and Luke Cartin, director of Lands and Sustainability for Park City Municipal.

The event is part of a quarterly speaker series organized by the Summit County Housing Authority. The series is designed to address questions facing community development, including transportation, open space, and the role of government and local businesses.

County officials say the event will offer residents a chance to learn more about the work happening behind the scenes to support affordable housing and land preservation.

Residents can RSVP through Summit County’s event listing or Eventbrite.
