Officials urge visitors to carpool or use free transit as the parade, 5K and resort celebrations draw holiday crowds.
PARK CITY, Utah — Park City’s Fourth of July celebrations are expected to bring road closures, parking restrictions, and heavier-than-usual traffic around Old Town and the resort base areas.
UDOT Wasatch Back and Park City Municipal said the city’s Fourth of July Parade and 5K Fun Run will mean road and parking closures in Old Town. Officials also warned drivers to expect additional traffic around resort events, including Park City Mountain’s Forum Fest at Canyons Village and Deer Valley Resort Music Festival performances.
Park City Mountain lists Forum Fest as a free holiday event featuring live music, nightly concerts, drone shows, fireworks, a kids zone, and other activities at Canyons Village. Deer Valley’s summer music festival also brings large evening crowds to the Snow Park area throughout July and August.
City and transportation officials encouraged residents and visitors to spend less time in traffic by carpooling or using transit. Park City Transit and High Valley Transit are both free, giving holiday visitors an alternative to driving into congested areas.
The holiday traffic comes as Park City and Summit County continue to push transit as a key tool for reducing congestion. TownLift previously reported that the planned bus rapid transit line along the SR-224 corridor is expected to serve more than 5,000 riders a day without adding new traffic or parking structures.
UDOT Wasatch Back also maintains real-time road status updates for Parleys Canyon and the Park City area, including active alerts, closures, and traction restrictions.
Officials are asking holiday visitors to plan ahead, review closure maps before heading into Old Town, and leave extra time when traveling near Main Street, Park Avenue, Canyons Village, and Deer Valley.
