KAMAS — Local artists, makers, bakers and crafters of all ages are invited to enter the “Game On! Homegrown Arts & Crafts Roundup,” a new featured contest at this year’s Gateway to Summer celebration June 12-13 at the Kamas City Event Center.
The contest is open to adults and children and accepts entries across a wide range of disciplines, including fine arts, applied arts, fiber arts, culinary arts, woodworking, handmade goods and mixed media. Participants are encouraged to submit works reflecting this year’s “Game On!” theme of sportsmanship and community pride.
The deadline to enter is Monday, June 8.
Awards will include a People’s Choice Award — determined by visitor votes throughout the weekend — as well as Judge’s Choice Awards and a Best in Show Award. Winners will be announced at the close of festivities Saturday afternoon.
“We want this to celebrate the creativity that already exists in our community,” organizers said. “Whether you are a professional artist, a student, or someone who simply loves creating, this is a chance to share that work with neighbors and visitors.”
Public voting will take place during the event’s two sessions: Friday, June 12, from 5-7 p.m. and Saturday, June 13, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.
Gateway to Summer, put on by Kamas Action, will also feature live music from local band Shrink the Giant, food trucks, local vendors and family activities.
The Kamas City Event Center is located at 50 E. 400 S. in Kamas. For entry information, contact Kate Wynn at kamasaction@gmail.com.
