Summit County primary ballots mail June 2; unaffiliated voters must request one by June 12

Primary ballots begin mailing June 2 ahead of the June 23 election

SUMMIT COUNTY, Utah — Most Summit County voters do not need to take any action to receive a ballot for the June 23 primary election. The Summit County Clerk’s Office will begin mailing ballots to all active registered voters whose party is holding a primary on June 2.

Voters registered as Republicans will receive a Republican ballot, and voters registered as Democrats will receive a Democratic ballot.

Unaffiliated voters, or voters registered with another party, must request a ballot to participate. The Democratic Party allows any registered voter to vote in its primary, regardless of affiliation. The Republican Party allows only Republican-affiliated voters to participate in its primary.

Any registered voter who is not a Democrat but wants a Democratic ballot may request one at summitcounty.info/ballotrequest by 5 p.m. June 12.

The ballot request form may be returned by email to elections@summitcountyutah.gov; by mail to Summit County Clerk, P.O. Box 128, Coalville, UT 84017; or in person at the Summit County Clerk’s Office, 60 N. Main St. in Coalville. Voters may cast a ballot in only one party’s primary.

June 12 is also the deadline to register to vote and receive a vote-by-mail ballot for the primary. Voters who are not registered but are otherwise eligible may still vote provisionally in person during early voting or on Election Day, according to the clerk’s office.

Questions may be directed to the Summit County Clerk’s Office at 435-336-3040 or elections@summitcountyutah.gov.
