SUMMIT COUNTY, Utah — The Summit County Health Department has launched a new home visitation program to support families with young children who may need developmental, postpartum, or community resources.
The program, called Strong Starts, serves children ages 0–8 who are uninsured, underinsured, or enrolled in Medicaid, according to Summit County Health. Nurses visit families in their homes to screen for developmental delays, assess for postpartum depression and anxiety, and help connect families to community resources.
The program is designed to meet families where they are, both physically and practically. Summit County Health said nurses can visit as often or as infrequently as families find helpful, with each visit guided by the family’s needs.
The launch comes as communities continue to look for ways to support children and parents earlier, especially during the years when developmental needs, maternal mental health, and access to services can shape long-term outcomes.
Families who may benefit from Strong Starts can request a visit through the Summit County Health Department.
