Park City skating coaches earn national honors from U.S. Figure Skating

Tiffany McNeil and Erika Roberts were recognized for coaching leadership and program development

PARK CITY, Utah — Two Park City figure skating coaches have earned national recognition from U.S. Figure Skating, marking another milestone for a local skating community that has been sending athletes to higher levels of competition.

Tiffany McNeil was named one of U.S. Figure Skating’s 2025-26 “5 Under 35” award recipients, an honor for young, up-and-coming coaches who have shown promise through innovation, early career achievement, and a positive influence on athletes.

Erika Roberts, Park City Ice Arena’s skating director and a Figure Skating Club of Park City coach and club coordinator, received U.S. Figure Skating’s “Guide the Glide” award. The honor recognizes a skating director or program director for exceptional work growing and promoting well-rounded Learn to Skate USA, Aspire, and U.S. Figure Skating programs.

U.S. Figure Skating announced the awards on May 22 as part of its 2025-26 Coach I.C.E. Awards, which recognize Learn to Skate USA, Aspire, and U.S. Figure Skating coaches who have made significant impacts on athletes, parents, fellow coaches, and skating communities. Award recipients were honored May 21 at the 2026 Impact Summit in Colorado Springs, Colorado.

The recognition places Park City coaches among a national group of skating professionals honored for leadership, character, and professionalism in the sport.

Roberts has been coaching since 1992 and has a background in synchronized skating, skating skills, and ice dance. Park City Ice Arena materials list her as a gold medalist in moves in the field and ice dance, a silver medalist in free skate, and a Professional Skaters Association master-rated coach in moves in the field, group, and synchronized team.

McNeil is listed among Park City Ice Arena figure skating professionals and serves as a Figure Skating Club of Park City club coordinator. The club directs skaters and families to McNeil for private lessons and general skating questions.

The awards come as Park City’s figure skating program continues to build a larger competitive presence. TownLift reported in November that the Figure Skating Club of Park City sent 10 athletes to national competitions, including singles, pairs, and intercollegiate events.

Roberts told TownLift at the time that Park City coaches had helped create “an environment that is fun, inspiring, motivational and technically sound,” allowing athletes from the local club to compete at a national level.

The latest honors extend that recognition from the athletes to the coaches and program leaders, helping shape the rink community behind them.
