PARK CITY, Utah — The Deer Valley Ponds will welcome friends and families June 6 for a free fly fishing experience open to all skill levels, with High Country Fly Fishers members on hand to provide instruction throughout the morning.
High Country Fly Fishers (HCFF) will host the Utah Free Fishing Day event from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Setup begins at 9:30 a.m. at the gazebo. No registration is required — just show up.

Club members will have a banner and booth set up with fly rods available for anyone who wants to try casting or fishing. The Utah Division of Wildlife Resources has indicated it plans to stock fish at the ponds before the event. Hot dogs, sodas and water will be provided for attendees.
HCFF is also looking for volunteers to help greet visitors, assist kids and families with fly fishing basics, support casting instruction, and help set up and break down the booth. The club also needs one or two people to bring propane grills and help with grilling. Those interested can contact Jack Campbell.
HCFF’s work extends beyond events like this one. The club’s Conservation Committee is currently involved in restoration of the Soapstone Creek drainage following the Yellow Lake Fire. Volunteers interested in the Soapstone Creek restoration can sign up here.
