Create, experiment, and explore: Kimball Art Center summer camp sign-ups are open

PARK CITY, Utah — Kimball Art Center’s summer camp lineup is here, and it’s packed with creative adventures for kids of every age and interest. Taught by professional artists and experienced art teachers, each weeklong camp dives deep into a single medium or theme — giving campers the time and guidance to truly explore their creativity.

Camps run June 8 through Aug. 14 across 10 sessions: June 8–12, June 15–19, June 22–26, June 29–July 2, July 6–10, July 13–17, July 20–23, July 27–31, Aug. 3–6, and Aug. 11–14. Mini artists | Ages 3–5

Little ones explore color, texture, and creative play through age-appropriate projects all summer long. Highlights include Mini YogART!, which blends meditation, mindfulness, and yoga with hands-on art projects (June 8–12); Mini painter’s club: playing with colors (July 6–10); Mini builders: vehicles and maps, where kids create vehicles and the imaginary worlds they travel through (July 13–17); Artful stories, with a new story-inspired project each day (July 27–31); and All around the world with art, a four-day journey through global art traditions (Aug. 3–6). Art through the seasons (June 29–July 2) is a four-day camp for ages 4–5 only.

Kids | Ages 5–12

The kids’ lineup spans a wide range of mediums and themes. June kicks off with All Things Papier-Mache and Teeny Tiny Things in Clay (June 8–12), followed by All About Animals! and Art from around the world: Asia (June 15–19), and Movie magic: filmmaking and Fuzzy creations: felting (June 22–26). Wearable art — cyanotype printing, bleach painting, and block printing — runs June 29–July 2 (currently waitlisted).

July offerings include Robots that draw: art and science, Game making: art and play (July 6–10), Art around the world: the Americas and Shapes and artists with visiting artist Laura Palmer (July 13–17), and a Mural workshop also led by Palmer (July 20–23). Later in the summer, kids can try Introduction to cartooning! (July 27–31), Fashion design and illustration and Piece by piece: mosaics (Aug. 3–6), and Landscape reimagined: art movements, Handbuilt creations: cups, bowls and plates, and Mindful painting (Aug. 11–14).

Wheel throwing camps for ages 8–12 run June 15–19, July 13–17, and July 27–31 (the latter two are currently waitlisted).

Tweens | Ages 10–13

Tweens have a strong lineup of technique-focused camps. The summer opens with Watercolor fundamentals with a local watercolor artist (June 8–12) and Wearable ceramics, turning clay into jewelry and accessories (June 15–19). Frame by frame: stop-motion animation basics runs June 29–July 2, followed by Wheel throwing 1 (July 6–10). Encaustic and printmaking studio with artist Shanoa Allowitz is offered July 27–31, and Self-expression through illustration and Wheel throwing 2 run Aug. 3–6.

Teens | Ages 14–18

The teen program offers more advanced, medium-specific exploration. June highlights include Lights, camera, create: filmmaking led by director Parker Gehring (June 22–26) and Art around us: exploring habitats and creatures (June 15–19). Character sculptures in clay runs June 29–July 2, and Small worlds: miniature room design invites teens to build detailed environments to scale (July 13–17). Mural studio: spray paint and public art — with select works potentially displayed at Kimball Arts Fest — runs July 20–23. Oil painting exploration and Layer and flow: watercolor collaging close out the summer in late July and mid-August.
