In the finish area, Josh Williamson talked to TownLift and other reporters about the Park City track. He explained that his team was lucky that the Utah Olympic Park crew worked hard to get the track open this season weeks earlier than normal. In an Olympic year, it was of great benefit to be able to get on the ice and start training before heading off to on the World Cup Tour.

Hunter Powell is engaged to Salt Lake City Olympic bobsledder Kaysha Love. TownLift asked him how it feels to have his family as well as his future Utah in-laws here rooting for him. “I haven’t seen them or any other family in quite a while, so being able to have both sides of the family here is just great,” he said.

The 4-Man Bobsled Team representing Israel comes through Park City to train and compete at the Utah Olympic Park. It provides occasion for them to be home-hosted by members of the Temple Har Shalom Congregation. In the Finish Area they told TownLift, “We’ve stayed a number of people’s houses and were supported by a number of people from Park City. They’re really sweet and it’s a huge help.”

In an exclusive interview with TownLift at the Cortina Sliding Center, Ivo Ferriani summed up the Milan Cortina Olympics before he placed medals around winner’s necks on the podium. He’s an Italian bobsled Olympian, the former president of the International Bobsled/Skeleton Federation, and now an executive board member of the International Olympic Committee. “About the Games, it’s been fantastic. We did receive a lot of criticism, but you know, when you are invited to dinner at eight o’clock, you don’t come at seven o’clock, you come at eight o’clock, and at eight o’clock, we were ready. That’s the Italian way.”
