Park City seeks input on Little Kate path, traffic calming in Park Meadows

PARK CITY, Utah — Park City Municipal is moving forward with a slate of transportation upgrades in Park Meadows, including a new multi-use path along Little Kate Road, bus stop improvements, and traffic calming measures. The project is part of a broader effort to improve safety and accessibility for pedestrians, cyclists, and transit riders.

The city will host a public meeting Tuesday, Feb. 24, from 5 to 6:30 p.m. at Park City Municipal Athletic & Recreation Center (The MARC), to share updates and gather feedback on:

  • A planned 12-foot multi-use path on the north side of Little Kate Road
  • Traffic calming on Holiday Ranch Loop Road
  • 20 Tan service feedback
  • Bus stop improvements

City officials encourage Park Meadows residents and regular corridor users to attend and weigh in on the proposals before designs are finalized. Due to parking limitations at the MARC, carpooling, taking transit, biking, or walking is recommended.

Improvements on Little Kate

The centerpiece of the Park Meadows project is a planned 12-foot multi-use path on the north side of Little Kate Road.

Currently, Little Kate carries moderate volumes of pedestrians and bicyclists on a roadway roughly 38 feet wide. An existing sidewalk on the north side provides direct access to the MARC and serves as part of a Safe Route to School corridor. However, bike lanes along the road are inconsistent, and some residents report riding on sidewalks to avoid vehicle conflicts.

Under the proposal, the city would maintain existing right-of-way boundaries but would build a 12-foot multi-use path on the north side of Little Kate Road and improve bus stops along Little Kate and Lucky John drives

To complete a safer connection to McPolin Elementary School, the segment of Lucky John Drive between its intersection with Little Kate and the school’s trail connection would also be upgraded to include a multi-use path.

Following a Park City Council discussion on Feb. 3, Monitor Drive is no longer included in the current project scope.

The Park Meadows improvements are funded through a mix of federal, state, county and local dollars and built on community feedback from the city’s Pedestrian & Bicycle Plan, Park City Forward and the Neighborhoods First Streets Program.
