Meet the USU interns working on climate solutions for Utah communities at this Park City event
PARK CITY — Utah State University’s Climate Adaptation Intern Program will showcase student-led climate solutions at a free community event Oct. 28 at Swaner Preserve and EcoCenter.
The event, “From Learning to Leading: How USU Students Are Driving Climate Adaptation,” runs from 5:30 to 7 p.m. and offers Park City residents a chance to learn how Utah’s changing climate is being addressed at local and statewide levels.
The program will feature work from interns in USU’s Climate Adaptation Intern Program, a new initiative training the next generation of climate adaptation experts while addressing climate impacts across Utah. Attendees can view intern projects during a 5:30 p.m. reception with light refreshments.
Dr. Scott Hotaling, a USU professor who directs the program, will present on recent climate change impacts in Utah at 6 p.m., followed by a panel discussion with interns and local experts on pressing climate issues they’re working to solve.
A question-and-answer session and additional time to connect with students and experts will close the evening at 6:40 p.m.
The event is part of Swaner’s Walks, Talks and Workshops series, designed for adults and older teens. It is presented in partnership with Utah State University Extension’s Climate Adaptation Intern Program.
Doors open at 5:25 p.m. Free parking is available at Swaner Preserve and EcoCenter, 1258 Center Drive.
