Snowbird’s summer season is here: What visitors should know

SNOWBIRD, Utah — Snowbird ski resort opened its summer season Saturday, drawing crowds to the Wasatch Mountains for warm-weather activities ranging from mountain coasters to scenic tram rides.

The resort’s all-day activity pass provides access to more than 20 attractions including the popular mountain coaster, a revamped ropes course and ZipperWipper.

“It’s really great to see this huge turnout of guests coming out to enjoy the wonderful weather,” said Jacob Marquardt, Snowbird’s communications and social media specialist.

The resort’s new rooftop tram balconies — billed as the only ones of their kind in the United States — will not be available until next week due to installation delays. Marquardt said the balconies should be operational by June 18.

Gad Valley reopens

“We’re excited to welcome visitors back to Gad Valley after its closure last summer for the construction of the new Wilbere chairlift,” Marquardt said. Snowbird advises trail-goers to be aware of ongoing construction to the mid-mountain dining venue, Mid-Gad Restaurant, anticipated to open for the 2025-26 winter season.

Mountain biking is currently available on designated trails, with 26 total trails including 16 multi-use, eight hiking-only and two biking-only trails. However, no lifts including the tram are bike-accessible, meaning riders must climb up before descending the mountain’s gravity-fed trails. The Peruvian Chairlift opening depends on snow melt conditions and typically occurs a few weeks after the summer season launch.

Dining and Entertainment

The resort offers multiple dining options, including the Forklift with outdoor seating and SeventyOne at The Cliff Lodge. A new addition, the Red Tram Bar, opened this winter in a converted original tram car from Snowbird’s opening, providing beer and cocktail service.

No live music events are scheduled for the immediate future. Performances will return later in the summer during Oktoberfest, beginning Aug. 9.

The resort will not host its traditional Fourth of July celebration this year, a departure from previous seasons.

Other available activities include an Alpine slide, vertical drop attraction, climbing walls, tree climbing with auto-belay systems, bungee trampolines and a kids’ fishing pond. The resort also features spa services and a boundless playground.

Popular summer hiking destinations include the challenging trail from Hidden Peak to Baldy Peak, which offers panoramic mountain views and is part of the Cirque racing series.

The Wasatch Wildflower Festival, in collaboration with the Cottonwood Canyon Foundation, and racing events including the Cirque series and Speedgoat by UTMB are planned for later in the summer season.

Hours and Operations

All-day activity passes run from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. daily, while scenic tram rides to Hidden Peak’s summit operate from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. Snowbird’s summer season runs through October, with various pass options available including all-summer passes and single-day activity passes.
