Park City home to two of the nation’s Top Five Ski Museums, according to Powder Magazine

PARK CITY, Utah — Park City isn’t just a world-class ski destination—it’s also a hub for ski history. This week, Powder magazine named the Alf Engen Ski Museum and the Park City Museum among the top five ski museums in the United States. The recognition adds to Park City’s mountain town reputation as a place where the sport’s past, present, and future converge.

The Alf Engen Ski Museum, located at the Utah Olympic Park, took the top spot on Powder’s list. The free museum is dedicated to Utah ski pioneer Alf Engen and features exhibits highlighting the Intermountain West’s rise as a winter sports powerhouse, as well as extensive memorabilia from the 2002 Salt Lake City Winter Olympics. Interactive features like a ski jumping simulator and the nearby Flying Aces aerial show make it a favorite for families and fans alike.

Ranked No. 5, the Park City Museum offers a broader look at the town’s transformation from a mining community to a premier ski destination. Located on Main Street, it’s home to immersive exhibits, including the original territorial jail and the Skier Subway Theater, which tells the story of how skiing helped revive Park City’s economy. A statue of Bud Wright, one of the town’s earliest skiers, greets visitors outside the museum.
