PARK CITY, Utah — The Park City Museum will present two free lectures as part of its History Speaks series at the Education and Collections Center, 2079 Sidewinder Drive, in early March.
Queen of the Soiled Doves: Mother Urban
Sandy Brumley will discuss Mother Urban, who oversaw Park City’s red-light district known as “The Row” for more than 20 years, on Wednesday, March 5, at 5 p.m. The district consisted of 16 separate “cribs” along the north side of Deer Valley Road. Brumley, a descendant of Minnesota iron miners and Park City history enthusiast, will explore this mysterious figure and feature a special guest.
On Wednesday, March 12, Park City resident and pilot Dorian De Maio will present “The Oregon Trail,” examining the journey of hundreds of thousands of pioneers who traveled west seeking better lives. This presentation continues De Maio’s series on western expansion, following his previous lectures on the Lewis and Clark Trail and the Mountain Men era. De Maio documents historic western locations from his airplane and shares photographs of his discoveries.
Each lecture is expected to last one hour. For more information, visit the Park City Museum’s website.
