Police log: DUIs and unattended deaths

Friday, Feb. 21
Incident: DUI
Deputies conducted a traffic stop on Hoytsville Road for speeding. Open containers of alcohol were observed in plain view, and officers noted that both the female driver and a passenger were under the legal age to consume alcohol. After the driver admitted to alcohol consumption and performed field sobriety tests, deputies determined she was not safe to operate a motor vehicle. She was arrested and booked into the Summit County Jail for DUI and related alcohol offenses.
Saturday, Feb. 22
Incident: Death (unattended)
Deputies responded to Fox Hollow Lane following a report that a complainant’s mother had passed away. Upon arrival, medical personnel and officers confirmed the death, and the Office of the Medical Examiner was notified. An on‑call detective and CSI investigator were dispatched to investigate the unattended death, which remains an active case.
Sunday, Feb. 23
Incident: Recovered stolen vehicle
Deputies located an occupied stolen pickup at the service station at Summit Park on 185 Aspen Dr. The driver was arrested without incident and the vehicle was recovered. The suspect was transferred to the custody of the Salt Lake County Sheriff for unrelated reasons, and charges for possession of a stolen vehicle were submitted to the Summit County Attorney.
Incident: Death (unattended)
Deputies responded to assist medical on an unresponsive female on Mahre Drive. The female was later pronounced deceased by medical personnel. A Detective responded to the scene with an evidence technician for further investigation. OME Case was generated for an unattended death, transport services arrived and took custody of the deceased. Deputies did not observe signs of criminal conduct or trauma related to a violent encounter or accident.
Incident: DUI
A vehicle was stopped for multiple violations on I-80, Jeremy Ranch exit. The driver showed signs of impairment and was arrested following a DUI investigation. The vehicle was impounded.
Incident: Alcohol offense
Deputies initiated a traffic stop on SR 224 and Bear Cub for a vehicle operating without insurance and with revoked registration. After contacting the driver, a record check revealed the driver’s license was suspended and that an ignition interlock device was required. The driver was arrested.
Incident: DUI
Deputies conducted a traffic stop on Bitner Road and Mourning Dove for a vehicle lacking insurance. When officers made contact, they observed signs of impairment and the driver performed poorly on standard field sobriety tests. The driver was taken into custody.
Incident: Domestic violence
Deputies responded to a report on Liberty Peak Lane regarding a domestic disturbance. The complainant reported that the suspect would not allow him to leave the residence. After confirming the events, officers arrested the suspect without incident.
Incident: Forgery
During a traffic stop on Ute Blvd and SR 224 for a vehicle operating without insurance, deputies discovered the driver had multiple active warrants and a revoked or expired driver’s license. The state system indicated the driver was sanctioned to have an ignition interlock device. The driver was arrested and booked into Summit County Jail for multiple offenses.
