Lindsey Vonn Foundation engages Weilenmann students in empowerment and resilience

PARK CITY, Utah —The students, staff, and parents of the Weilenmann School of Discovery weren’t fazed by Lindsey Vonn’s absence on Friday, as she was competing on the World Cup circuit in Europe. Instead, they embraced the Lindsey Vonn Foundation’s message of empowerment and resilience.

When Vonn founded her namesake foundation, she was just a few years into retirement from the U.S. Ski Team, having stepped away from her multi-medal-winning Olympic career to transition into sports commentary. Since then, she has moved to Park City, acquired a majority stake in the Utah Royals FC women’s professional soccer team, and spent time skiing at Deer Valley and Park City Mountain. Now, Vonn is back on the U.S. Ski Team, competing on the World Cup tour and earning top-10 finishes.

Neither she nor her foundation is slowing down, as demonstrated by Friday’s event at Weilenmann, where students eagerly participated in a special assembly.

“Lindsey joined virtually from an airport,” said Susannah Barnes, Weilenmann’s director of development. “Three youth ambassadors worked with the students on affirmations and coping techniques and engaged the girls in discussions about resiliency, grit, and what power they have inside them.”

The assembly was designed to inspire and motivate girls aged 10-14 to pursue their athletic and personal goals. It showcased the Foundation’s programs, providing students with a unique opportunity to interact directly with youth ambassadors.

The Lindsey Vonn Foundation continues to bring its mission of supporting and empowering young female athletes to communities like Park City, offering programs and camps that focus on personal growth, athletic development, and leadership training.
