Woman dies in Summit County snowmobile incident

SUMMIT COUNTY, Utah — A woman died Sunday following a snowmobile incident near Thousand Peaks Ranch in Summit County.

The Summit County Sheriff’s Office received a report of a medical emergency at approximately 2:30 p.m. when a group of snowmobilers discovered one of their members was missing. After backtracking, they found an unresponsive adult female near her snowmobile.

Search and Rescue units and patrol deputies responded to the scene after bystanders reported CPR was in progress. The victim was transported to a medical helicopter and flown to a Salt Lake area hospital, where she was later pronounced dead.

“Initial investigation indicates that the snowmobile left the designated path but did not appear to impact any objects,” said Sgt. Skyler Talbot of the Summit County Sheriff’s Office. “It is unclear whether the woman’s injuries were caused by a snowmobile crash or if an unrelated medical emergency led to the machine leaving the path.”

The incident remains under investigation..
