Park City Ski Patrol union urges kindness to mountain employees during labor strike

The union highlighted the importance of maintaining the community’s hallmark spirit of care and kindness, encouraging respect for all individuals involved in the challenging situation.

PARK CITY, Utah — Amid an ongoing strike, the Park City Ski Patrol union is urging the community to direct frustrations at Vail Resorts, Inc. (NYSE:MTN) rather than toward mountain staff, including supervisors and managers filling in during the labor dispute. On-duty patrollers who are not part of the union, along with regular employees at Park City Mountain, are reportedly being sworn at and threatened during their shifts, according to multiple eyewitness accounts.

In a statement released on social media, the union expressed appreciation for public support while emphasizing their condemnation of harassment. “We vehemently condemn harassment of any kind. Many of the ski patrollers and mountain safety currently working on the mountain are our co-workers, and mistreating them does not align with our goals or values,” the statement reads.

The union highlighted the importance of maintaining the community’s hallmark spirit of care and kindness, encouraging respect for all individuals involved in the challenging situation.

The strike reflects ongoing tensions with Vail Resorts, as the ski patrol union pushes for changes to workplace conditions and compensation. Community members are asked to remain supportive yet respectful during this period of negotiation. With scheduled mediation sessions on Monday and Tuesday this week we hope to have an update soon on the labor strike.
