Utah’s Olympic legacy venues to host 14 competitions this season
SALT LAKE CITY, Utah — Utah kicks off its first winter sports season since being selected to host the 2034 Winter Olympics and Paralympics, with more than a dozen competitions scheduled at venues from the 2002 Games.
The legacy venues, which partnered with ten international sports federations and national governing bodies, will showcase both elite and developing athletes throughout the season.
“These events are a testament to Utah’s strong sport and Olympic legacy, and they also provide a brief glimpse into the energy and excitement the world can expect in 2034,” said Jeff Robbins, president and CEO of the Utah Sports Commission.
Young athletes will compete in more than half of this season’s events, from bobsled to biathlon, at the same facilities slated to host the 2034 Games. The youth focus aligns with one of the bid’s central goals: fostering Olympic and Paralympic values in upcoming generations.
Beyond winter sports, the Salt Palace Convention Center will host the USA Volleyball Girls 18s National Qualifier—a precursor to the national championships—and the USA Judo Youth Nationals, which are returning to Utah for the first time since 2021.
