Cyclists, saddle up: Utah Cache Gran Fondo returns for its 15th year

Up to 2,000 riders can register for the July 11 event in Cache County, with distances ranging from 35 to 100 miles

CACHE COUNTY, Utah — Registration is open for the 15th annual Utah Cache Gran Fondo, a road cycling event planned for Saturday, July 12 in Cache County that organizers say is among the largest rides in the state.

The event, held annually on the second Saturday of July, is capped at 2,000 riders across four distances: 100 miles, 75 miles, 50 miles and 35 miles. As of publication, 252 riders had registered for the 100-mile distance, 190 for the 50-mile option and 344 entries had been recorded across remaining distances.

Each distance is fully supported with aid stations, roving radio crews and law enforcement. Organizers describe the course as mostly flat, making it a popular choice for riders attempting their first century or half-century ride, as well as those using the event as a mid-summer training ride for longer events such as LOTOJA, the Logan-to-Jackson race.

Riders in the 75- and 100-mile distances are eligible to qualify for USA Cycling Gran Fondo National Championships. In partnership with USA Cycling, organizers are also offering up to 24 youth riders a discounted $24 registration fee. Interested families can contact race director Troy Oldham at oldhamtroy@gmail.com with the rider’s name and preferred distance.

Custom event jerseys are available for purchase on the registration website. To register, visit bikereg.com/utah-cache-gran-fondo.
