Honored Hero

Each year Shred For Red shines a spotlight on an honored hero, symbolizing the resilience and strength of those fighting blood cancers. This year, Park City resident Owen Modena was asked to share his story as the inspiring face of the campaign.

In February 2023, Owen was diagnosed at just 5-years-old with stage 3 non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma and underwent four months of intensive chemotherapy treatment at Primary Children’s Hospital in Salt Lake City. Now in remission, Owen’s cancer treatment greatly benefited from research and trials funded by organizations like LLS.

Notably, Owen received Rituximab, a drug developed with the support of LLS, which helps mitigate the effects of chemotherapy. LLS also played a key role in securing approval for Rituximab’s use in pediatric patients.

All proceeds benefit LLS programs that aid blood cancer patients and their families. For more information or to register, visit lls.org/shredforred.

Editors Note: Owens parents are the co-founders of TownLift.
