Freezing temperatures and scattered snow showers expected for Election Day

It’s going to feel like winter this week with below normal temperatures and a storm on election day

PARK CITY, Utah—The storm on Sunday has left a very cold airmass in place, and it’s not going anywhere anytime soon as our active weather pattern continues. For the work week, high temperatures will be in the low 30s, with overnight lows dropping into the teens. Monday will be the warmest day before a storm enters Utah on Tuesday.

Election Day Storm

On Tuesday, a somewhat drier and colder storm will be approaching from the north, bringing with it the coldest air of the season with lows around 15 degrees. There may be some light scattered snow showers in the morning, with the main cold front slated to arrive in the afternoon or early evening. Snow totals look to be in the 1-2” range for town, 2-4” for the PC mountains, and 3-6” for Alta. The storm will quickly move to the south again overnight Tuesday, with only a slight chance of some flurries Wednesday morning.

Lastweek Snowstorm Totals

It was a similar story to the storm last Tuesday: a quick-hitting cold front with the main low-pressure area digging to the south, followed by a period of almost straight northerly winds that limited orographic (flow over mountains) precipitation in the Wasatch. The Park City area mountains picked up around 2-3″ of snow, while 7″ were reported at Alta, boosting the total settled snow depth to about 12″ mid-mountain.

Forecast issued: Sunday, November 3 at 9:00 pm for Park City town/base area & PC upper mountain
