The Christian Center of Park City launches free Family & Caregiver Support Group
PARK CITY, Utah — The Christian Center of Park City has introduced a new initiative to support individuals caring for family members with mental illness. The Family & Caregiver Support Group, organized by the Christian Center’s Counseling and Wellness Center, began meeting on September 25, 2024 and offers a safe and supportive space for caregivers to connect, share experiences, and seek professional guidance.
Led by trained clinicians, the support group meets every other Wednesday at 6:15 p.m. at the Christian Center’s Deer Valley Drive location. The group allows participants to meet others facing similar challenges, fostering a sense of community and shared understanding. “As our community continues to grow, mental health support for caregivers is more crucial than ever,” a spokesperson for the center said. The program aims to create a network of empathy, helping caregivers navigate the emotional and mental strain that can come with supporting loved ones struggling with mental illness.
The sessions are open to anyone in the community and are offered free of charge. The Christian Center encourages interested attendees to RSVP via their website at least 24 hours in advance. The meetings will continue biweekly through the end of the year.
With mental health issues becoming increasingly prevalent, the Christian Center hopes this group will serve as a crucial resource for caregivers, providing not only professional guidance but also comfort in knowing they are not alone.
