Temperatures will drop drastically this week with snow on the horizon
PARK CITY, Utah – The stretch of unseasonably warm weather seen across most of Utah is about to make a turn toward much colder weather later this week, with snow in the forecast in Park City on Thursday.
The NOAA weather report shows highs in the 70s in Park City through Wednesday when winds will pick up ahead of the incoming front from the Pacific Northwest. Then temperatures will drop drastically to a high of 51 degrees Thursday, with a 90% chance of rain. Lows will reach 22 degrees Thursday night, with snow likely on Friday. Some forecasters say up to 6 inches of snow is possible in higher terrain in the Wasatch, and up to a foot is possible in the Uintas.
Rain and snow in the forecast are welcome news for helping to control the Yellow Lake Fire burning in the Uinta Mountains. On Monday morning, officials reported the fire to be 31,007 acres and 21% contained.
Powder Buoy Pop: Local forecaster Powder Buoy announced the first buoy pop of the season on Monday. Powder Buoy predicts Utah storms by tracking an ocean buoy correlating to Utah storms and snowfall.
The Wasatch could see more snow Oct 26, Powder Buoy says.
