More winter stoke: Park City Film screens ‘Calm Under Castles’

PARK CITY, Utah – Fall is winter stoke season and Park City has its fair share of ski film screenings. Along with Teton Gravity and Warren Miller Film Tour stops, Park City Film will hold three screenings of Matchstick Productions’ “Calm Beneath Castles” Nov. 1-3 at the Park City Library.

The film is the latest release from Matchstick Productions, which was founded in 1992. Calm Beneath Castles captures the essence of skiing as a way of life. Through breathtaking cinematography, the film follows elite athletes—including Sam Kuch, Michelle Parker, Colby Stevenson, and more—across stunning mountain locations like Hokkaido, Japan; British Columbia; Alaska; and Austria. The movie explores the athletes’ connection to nature, balancing adrenaline-fueled action with introspective moments of tranquility found in the mountains.

Presented in partnership with brands like Toyota and The North Face, the film is more than just a showcase of extreme sports—it’s a celebration of the spirit and dedication required to pursue mountain adventures. “Calm Beneath Castles” aims to inspire both skiers and viewers alike by blending raw athleticism with the peaceful beauty of the natural world.

Find tickets for the film’s tour at Park City Film’s site if you want to catch it on the big screen near you.
