PARK CITY, Utah — On November 1, the Utah Department of Transportation (UDOT) will close Guardsman Pass from Brighton to Park City.
Guardsman Pass, also known as Utah SR-190, closes annually for the winter season due to heavy snowfall and safety concerns. The pass, which connects Park City, Big Cottonwood Canyon, and Midway, becomes impassable during the colder months because of steep grades and narrow, winding roads. UDOT typically shuts down the pass in late October or early November, depending on weather conditions, and reopens it in late spring or early summer. The route is not maintained or plowed during winter.
