Driver mistakes boat ramp for highway, plunges into Deer Creek Reservoir

DEER CREEK STATE PARK, Utah— A driver accidentally drove down a boat ramp at Deer Creek State Park early Monday morning, mistaking it for a highway, officials said.

The incident occurred around 3 a.m. at the park’s main boat ramp, according to a Facebook post by Wasatch County Search and Rescue. The driver was able to exit the vehicle safely.

Divers were called to the scene to assist in recovering the submerged vehicle from the reservoir.

Authorities used the incident to remind the public about the dangers of impaired driving. “Please don’t drink and drive,” Wasatch SAR emphasized in their social media post.

The identity of the driver and any potential charges were not immediately disclosed.
