Kamas City Council approves 129-acre annexation, paving way for Ballerina Farm expansion
KAMAS, Utah – Kamas City Council has greenlit the annexation of 129 acres on the south side of State Route 248, including a 14-acre parcel where Ballerina Farm plans a dairy retail development. The council approved the annexation of six properties, with council member Larry Gines, abstaining because a family member owns property in the annexation area.
Daniel and Hannah Neeleman, owners of Ballerina Farm, aim to develop their parcel with livestock pastures, orchards, a farm store, a café, and more. The land’s zoning was changed from Agriculture to Agricultural Tourism, a new designation, to support the new development.
The annexation is conditional on agreements about infrastructure improvements like water and sewer lines and who will pay for them the town, or the Neelemans. The Neelemans have proposed an agreement under which they would pay for the lines and other property owners who tie in to them would pay a portion of the cost. A separate site plan for a creamery will require approval from the Kamas Planning Commission.
Hannah Neeleman, a social media influencer with millions of followers, has been instrumental in sharing their farm lifestyle online. The Neelemans bought the 328-acre Ballerina Farm in 2018, where they live with their eight children.
