Joe Wrona granted early release from Summit County jail in sexual abuse case
Summit County man to complete probation after serving 243 days of 364-day sentence
SUMMIT COUNTY, Utah — Joseph Edward Wrona, convicted of forcible sexual abuse and incest, has been granted early release from the Summit County Jail. Wrona, 60, had initially been sentenced to 364 days in jail as part of a plea deal but was released on “good time” ahead of schedule. “Good time” credits are rewards for good behavior against jail sentences for misdemeanors and certain felonies. His release comes under the terms of a probationary agreement that requires him to serve 48 months of supervised probation.
Wrona, who pled guilty to a second-degree felony for forcible sexual abuse and a third-degree felony for incest, avoided a prison sentence after the court suspended his indeterminate terms of up to 15 and five years, respectively.
Prosecutors agreed to the terms outlined in the plea deal. Wrona will now complete his remaining sentence under strict probation guidelines, which include reporting any law violations or address changes within 48 hours. A continuous protective order remains in place for the survivor.
