New nonstop flights to California wine country from Salt Lake City airport for under $60

SALT LAKE CITY, Utah – Wine enthusiasts will be raising a glass to Avelo Airlines this fall. The airline is about to start making trips to California’s Wine Country a breeze, launching budget-friendly nonstop flights from Salt Lake City to Sonoma County.

According to a news release from Salt Lake City International Airport, Avelo Airlines will begin offering nonstop flights from Salt Lake City to California’s Sonoma County in October. Service will be available twice a week on Thursdays and Sundays. One-way fares will start at $57, with the inaugural flight scheduled for October 24. It’s worth noting, however, that Avelo charges for seats ($11 to $64), all bags other than those stowed under your seat ($42 and above), and, of course, applicable taxes and fees.

“We are thrilled to announce our new nonstop service from Salt Lake City to the Bay Area/Sonoma County, offering travelers a convenient, reliable and affordable way to one of the most beautiful and vibrant regions in Northern California,” Andrew Levy, Avelo Airlines founder and CEO, said in the release. “We look forward to inspiring travel this fall to Sonoma County and inspiring Northern Californians to explore all the Beehive State has to offer.”

The new service will also offer easy access beyond Wine Country to other destinations like San Francisco and San Jose, which are an hour or two away by rental car.

Houston-based Avelo Airlines took off in April 2021 and has flown more than 5 million passengers on 40,000 flights, according to the release. The carrier currently serves 54 destinations across 24 states and three countries.
